Students and teachers are discovering that writing in a math class can be an interesting and useful tool for us all. We will show how we have spent the last year incorporating writing, assessment(s), technology, and the co-teaching model to support and close the achievement gap and to master the standards continuum that spans the educational landscape. Our goal is to meet the CCR standards for ELA within the math class. As the students get more comfortable in expressing the ideas, concepts, and justifications of math problems we are hoping to see that success translate across curricula. As a site, we have added writing components to all core classes and into some elective courses.

I love curriculum and revising curriculum. My partner in math (Jordan Smith) and I are always always tweaking lessons, assessments, Projects/Tasks, writing prompts and SBAC prep and... anything we can think of to help turn on the light and have our students succeed.
